Boy injured in accidental shooting in Sarlahi

Sarlahi, February 19

A 15-year-old boy was injured after a pistol went off in Malangwa, the district headquarters of Sarlahi, on Thursday afternoon.

The injured has been identified as Akasha Ram of Dhaka Border Tole, Ward No. 4 of Malangwa Municipality. According to police, Akasha found an object wrapped in red cloth inside the premises of a Hanuman temple under construction near his home. He opened it to inspect the item.

District Police Office Sarlahi spokesperson and DSP Saroj Rai said the pistol discharged accidentally while the boy was handling it, thinking it was a fake weapon. The bullet struck his right palm. He was immediately rushed to the Provincial Hospital in Malangwa for treatment. Doctors said his condition is moderate.

Police have recovered one pistol from the scene. Authorities stated that a spent cartridge was found stuck inside the pistol, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
