CPN-UML Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam says his party will win at least 50 per cent local units of Province 2 as eight Terai districts will go to polls on September 18.

This estimation will not fail as it is based on a study, he claims.

Though the party has emerged the strongest at the local level in other six provinces from the first and second phases of local polls, Gautam says the party could not perform as well as expected in the polls.

He says insiders of the party itself did not support official candidates of the party in some places, resulting in the loss.

Speaking at a function in Kathmandu, Gautam said his party would lead provincial governments in all seven provinces after the provincial polls and the federal government as well after the the federal elections, which should be held before January next year.
