Jhapa, March 7
Balendra Shah (Balen), the Senior Leader of Rastriya Swatantra Party, has won the House of Representatives Elections from Jhapa 5.
Balen was elected with 68,348 votes. He defeated former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli.
UML Chairman Oli received 18,734 votes, leaving a margin of 49,614 votes between them.
Jhapa–5 had become one of the most talked-about constituencies in this year’s election. After former Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah filed his candidacy, public attention intensified over the anticipated contest between him and Oli in this constituency.
