Late Babu Chiri Sherpa Memorial Sport Climbing Competition to be organised in honour of the mountaineering legend

The Nepal Climbing Sport Association (NCSA) and the Alpine Sports Association, INC, based in Elmhurst, New York, North America, signed an agreement to jointly organise the Late Babu Chiri Sherpa Memorial Sport Climbing Competition 2024.

This event will take place at the Crimpanzee Adventure Hub in Boudha, which will serve as the co-host venue.

The agreement was signed on February 7, by Santosh Maden, General Secretary of NCSA, and Ngawang Nima Sherpa, President of Alpine Sports Association, INC. In the signing ceremony, the two organisations emphasised how the competition would honour the legacy of the legendary climber, Babu Chiri Sherpa.

The representatives from both associations reflected on the objectives of the Babu Chiri Sherpa Memorial Sport Climbing Competition.

“This event seeks to honor the adventurous and exemplary spirit embodied by Babu Chiri Sherpa, while simultaneously promoting the global advancement of climbing as a sport,” said Sherpa.

By uniting climbers from various backgrounds and regions, the competition aims to cultivate camaraderie, enhance skill levels, and nurture mutual respect within the climbing community.
