Former President Ram Baran Yadav has described the new constitution as a huge achievement of the federal democratic republic of Nepal. He said this while inaugurating a daylong workshop on Chure Area Conservation, organised in Bardibas of Mahottari district on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Yadav stressed the need to further enrich the constitution by addressing demands of Madhesh.

The country has now entered the era of economic prosperity, he said, adding that the onus is on all Nepalis to address Madhesh’s concerns. He said collective efforts of all Nepalis are a must for economic prosperity.

For achieving this prosperity, there’s a need to bring Madheshi forces seeking fulfillment of their demands through constitutional amendments, he said, adding: Government and political parties should initiate steps to bring these forces into political mainstream.

Madheshi parties are pointing that their concerns remain unaddressed, Yadav said, expressing fears that national unity may weaken if this situation continues.

Yadav concluded: The prevailing crisis will end if Madheshi parties raise their demands by accepting the constitution as a historic achievement and if the (KP Oli) government and major political parties show flexibility towards their demands.
