An alternative route to Rasuwa has been opened after floods and landslides washed away highways and bridges. However, heavy traffic and the narrow road have made travel to the destination difficult.
Three days ago, the Kathmandu–Tokha–Chhahare–Gadkhar Bridge–Aapre–Narja–Lachyang–Sarmathali–Patikharka–Bogtitar–Kalikastan–Dhunche road was opened for small four-wheel-drive vehicles.
However, the narrow road is making two-way traffic difficult. The unpaved road has also become muddy due to rainfall. In some areas, road clearance has been easier where excavators operated by municipalities and rural municipalities are available. But vehicles are struggling to pass through sections where excavators have not reached.
As a result, vehicles carrying relief supplies have been getting stuck in long traffic jams.
