Kathmandu, May 8

The Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) based in Rampur, Chitwan has witnessed obstruction in its regular operation for over a month.

Regular works including teaching and learning activities have been halted here after some agitating students misbehaved Assistant Dean of the Agriculture Faculty, Bishnu Ojha, on April 4.

According to Manaraj Kolakshyapati, Registrar of the AFU, the Democratic University Teachers Association has continued its protest demanding stern action against the unruly students involved in smearing black shoot on the face of the Dean.

The university professors have locked out the main office throwing the regular operation out of gear.

It may be noted that the university had expelled six students involved in misbehaving the AFU officials for around two months. Protesting the action, the ANNFSU also padlocked the university.

Though ANNFSU withdrew its protest, the Association did not end the struggle citing weak action against the unruly students.

The dispute was ensued when affiliation was granted to private colleges to run different programmes last year.

The university remained closed for over half of the time in the past one year.
