Thirty-nine Nepali children studying at a Buddhist school in Dehradun of India have returned home, reporting a key school official beat them up recently.

Earlier, it was reported that the Shakya Academy’s president Lama Rinpoche Gyanavajra beat 51 Nepali students with a rod after they wanted to come home for the Dashain festival last month. Of them, 42 were said to be injured.

Following the incident, the school’s principal Chhiring Chhoden had admitted that it was the school’s mistake, assuring action against the culprit. However, the guardians had urged the school to send the kids back.

Therefore, the school sent the students back with two staff to Kathmandu. The school staff handed them over to the guardians in Swayambhu of Kathmandu today.

Meanwhile, the guardians have said they would not send their kids to the school again.

Some of the students had returned on their own after a few days of the incident via Mahendranagar.
