Kathmandu, March 1

Central leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, Yogesh Bhattarai, has demanded that the government introduce a new code of conduct to regulate flights involving VIPs.

Bhattarai’s statement comes in response to the death of seven persons including his party’s leader and Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari in a helicopter crash in Taplejung of eastern Nepal on Wednesday.

There are speculations that the bad weather resulted in the crash whereas some people have said the trip to Pathibhara was unplanned.

Bhattarai also says the trip was operated without exercising any caution, stating a new procedure should be adopted to plan and operate flights involving VIP officials so as to avoid possible losses.

Speaking with journalists after paying last tributes to Adhikari at Tundikhel this morning, Bhattarai said the investigation team formed by the government should also consider these issues.
