The flash flood in the Budhigandaki River has caused heavy physical damage at Times Energy Pvt Ltd, Gorkha. The company’s 18 employees escaped with their lives by fleeing.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, preliminary information indicates that the flood swept away nine blocks and six public buildings belonging to the company.
The 18 employees working on the project escaped after locals warned them that a flood was coming. They went to a high, safe place on their own.
Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Dharma Raj Upreti said preparations are underway to rescue them by Nepali Army helicopter.
“Security personnel of Nepal Police, the Nepali Army and the Armed Police Force Nepal have been mobilised in their respective areas,” Dr Upreti said. “The most important thing right now is to protect human life.”
The Nepali Army said its team has airlifted six people from the Jagat area.
A Nepali Army air team has been mobilised from Kathmandu. Teams from the Army, the Armed Police and Nepal Police have also been deployed on the ground.
