Kathmandu, October 11

Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has expressed grief over the severe flood in the Budhigandaki River, which caused heavy damage in Gorkha’s Chumnubri area and washed away two bridges.

In a Facebook post, Thapa urged people living along the riverbanks, from the Budhigandaki down to the Trishuli, to exercise extreme caution.

Noting that the flood swept away the bridge connecting Nyakchet and Philim and the bridge linking Dhading and Gorkha, he asked people living along the river to stay in safe places and follow the directives issued by local administrations.

He appealed to all Congress leaders and cadres to take an active part in rescue, relief and other necessary support for those affected during this time of disaster.

With further risks possible in the flood-affected areas, he asked riverside residents to stay alert and take the necessary precautions against possible danger.
