Election Commission urges voters to update voter details

Election Commission invites parties for talks on upcoming House election

Kathmandu, August 21

The Election Commission has urged citizens to check and update their details in the voter list.

According to Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, joint secretary and spokesperson of the Election Commission, the commission regularly updates the voter list to make it accurate, updated, reliable and objective.

As part of the process, the existing voter list will be published on the commission’s website on September 17 for the purpose of updating the details.

The commission has urged voters to check the published list and play an active role in ensuring that their personal information is accurate and up to date.

Voters can request corrections if there are errors in their name, surname, age, address or other personal details.

The commission has also asked citizens to report cases in which someone has been registered on the voter list by providing false information.

If a voter’s name appears at more than one location, it can be retained at only one location. Voters who have changed their permanent address due to migration or marriage can also update their details accordingly.

The Election Commission said accurate and regularly updated voter lists are essential for maintaining the integrity, fairness and credibility of elections.

It expressed confidence that citizens would continue to cooperate in correcting errors, duplicate registrations and other inaccurate information in the voter list.
