Kathmandu, October 19

The Bhaktapur District Administration Office has prohibited playing Deusi-Bhailo in public places this year.

According to a notice issued by the office, playing Deusi-Bhailo in a way that obstructs public roads and traffic routes is not allowed. The notice also states that no religious stages or festive structures for Deepawali celebrations may be set up in public spaces, footpaths, or roads where the movement of people could be disrupted.

The administration has requested that Deusi-Bhailo and similar programs be conducted in a disciplined, orderly, and respectful manner, limited to 9 pm. It has also urged the public to ensure that no complaints arise while playing Deusi-Bhailo.

What about Kathmandu?

The Kathmandu District Administration Office has instructed the public not to engage in any activities prohibited by law during the Tihar festival.

It has requested that Deusi-Bhailo and related programs be conducted only until 9 pm in an organised and disciplined manner, ensuring no disturbance or complaints from others.

“The playing of Deusi-Bhailo that obstructs public roads and walkways is not allowed. Similarly, no religious stages or festive setups for Deepawali can be built in public places, footpaths, or roads that hinder public movement,” the notice reads.

The office has also urged the public to be cautious while using candles and electric lights and to refrain from buying, selling, transporting, storing, or using fireworks, firecrackers, or any explosive or flammable materials.

What about Lalitpur?

The Lalitpur District Administration Office has likewise requested that Deusi-Bhailo and similar programs conclude by 9 pm, to be conducted in a disciplined, orderly, and respectful manner.

The office has also asked people not to engage in or promote any activities that could disturb religious, ethnic, or social harmony under the pretext of celebrating festivals.

It further urged the public to report any unlawful activities or violations of the issued notice to the nearest security agency or police control room.
