Police intervened in the ongoing Jitpur-Simara Trade and Cultural Festival in Bara after organisers continued the event beyond the permitted hours, raising security concerns.
Authorities had granted permission to run the festival from 10 AM to 6 PM. However, organisers continued selling tickets until 9 PM, prompting police action late Saturday night.
DSP Subhadra Waiba personally climbed the stage to halt the cultural program after the organisers defied the scheduled time limit. The intervention occurred while Bhojpuri singer Sunil Pandit was mid-performance.
DSP Waiba seized control of the microphone and unplugged its connection, effectively ending the program.
She stated that the event was stopped because tickets were being sold well past the approved time, potentially posing risks to public safety and order.
While organisers claimed they had requested and were granted an extension until 7 PM, police said tickets were still being sold even after 9 PM. DSP Waiba added that the growing crowd and risk of disputes necessitated the shutdown.
