Kathmandu, April 11

The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to keep Durga Prasai, the key figure behind the recent Tinkune protest, in custody for 12 days for further investigation.

A bench led by Judge Shishir Raj Dhakal issued the order, allowing the police to detain Prasai, who was arrested in India on Thursday and brought to Kathmandu earlier today. Along with him, his personal bodyguard Deepak Khadka, who was arrested at the same time, will also remain in custody for 12 days.

The police had sought permission to hold both individuals for at least 12 days to carry out a detailed investigation, which the court approved.

Earlier, on April 8, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leaders Rabindra Mishra and Dhawal Shumsher Rana were also remanded in custody for 15 days following their arrest during the same protest in Tinkune.

According to police, the 12-day remand for Prasai and Khadka was sought to align their custody period with that of the previously arrested leaders and facilitate a coordinated investigation.
