Biratnagar, December 13
The Sunsari District Court extended the remand of religious leader Krishna Bahadur Giri aka Siddhababa, who has been accused of raping one of his followers, for the third time.
The court allowed police to keep him in custody for three more days for further investigation.
After receiving the extension, police have sent him to Birat Nursing Home in Biratnagar, where he is receiving treatment for some heart problems. He was arrested from the same hospital on December 2 and he is staying there since.
Police had demanded that the remand be extended by 10 days as the collected evidence were being tested, but the court only gave three more days, according to DSP Binod Sharma of the District Police Office.
