ICC will lift CAN soon: Silwal
Member secretary of National Sports Council Ramesh Silwal has said that Cricket Association of Nepal’s suspension will soon be lifted. This comes after NSC and an ICC’s independent committee came to an agreement to hold a special election which will select the central working committee, from September 27-28. The ICC is scheduled to host a board meeting on October 2 where Nepal’s suspension might be lifted, according to sources.
Minister Magar replaces Melamchi project chief
Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Bina Magar has replaced the chief of the Melamchi Drinking Water Supply Project. Minister Magar has appointed Tiresh Prasad Khatri to replace Surya Kandel. Khatri has been the chief of Project Implementation Directorate of Kathmandu Upatayaka Khanepani Limited for a long duration and has good idea of Melamchi project.

Tourism Minister orders airlines to spray dengue meds inside aircrafts
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has called on all airlines companies operating in Nepal to spray dengue medicine inside their aircraft. Minister Bhattarai has asked CAAN to make sure that all airline companies follow this after consultation with tourism stakeholders regarding the implications of dengue for tourism.
Minister Bhattarai also asked hotel and restaurant owners along with bus and tour operators to keep their places clean so that dengue would not affect Visit Nepal Year 2020.
Squatter problem will be resolved: Minister Aryal
Minister for Land Management and Poverty Alleviation Padma Kumari Aryal said that the government had brought a new law which would help the government solve the squatter problem in the Kathmandu valley. She asked the opposition and others to look at the bill before spreading rumours. Minister Aryal said that that the new land management bill was inclusive and didn’t differentiate between the rich and the poor.

Nepse continues to fall
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell below 1,140 points at the start of Monday’s session and continued to see weakness throughout the day. The benchmark index wavered along 1,135 points mark in the afternoon but gave up notable ground in the closing hours to end the day 16.18 points lower at a 6-month low of 1,123.83 points.
Stocks continued to struggle as investors resorted to broad panic-selling with the index approaching its multi-year low of 1,100 points. Investors’ sentiment continues to remain weak on the back of authorities failing to address the issues put forth by investors. In the meantime, Nepse has lost over 70 points in the eight-day slump. Stocks worth Rs 344 million traded in the local bourse on Monday.
Except for the trading sector, all other segments ended Monday in red.
Budda Air says commotion also caused delay
Budda Air has said that its flight from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu was further halted due to the commotion created inside the aircraft. In a clarification given to CAAN, Buddha Air accepted that it had halted its flight for Tourism Minister Yogesh Bhattarai. However, the clarification also stated that the commotion inside the aircraft also caused the delay. In its clarification the company also stated that the aircraft also tilted to one side.
Kathmandu-Terai fast track: Bridges and tunnels to be built by foreign companies
Contracts to build the tunnels and bridges at the Kathmandu-Nijgadh fast track will only be given to foreign companies. The tunnels and bridges will be built in design and build model. However, the contracting company will have to seek permission from the Nepal Army before beginning construction.
A total of six foreign companies have shown interest in building bridges. Out of the six, five companies are from China whereas one is from Turkey. The bidding process for the tunnels is still under process. Nepal Army says that it will select the companies by December.
