Pokhara, February 27
A provincial government team has inspected a project site at Bharatpokhari in Pokhara Metropolitan City-33 as part of a plan to build an international cricket ground there.
The project has been put in priority after the Gandaki provincial government announced the construction of the stadium in its policies and programmes for the fiscal year 2018/19.
The team led by the provincial Minister for Social Development Nara Devi Pun carried out a feasibility study, said the Ministry’s undersecretary Ten Prasad Kafle.
The place has been specified for the project on the initiatives of the then regional administrator Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya.
“The area is suitable for the project from every aspect including geography,” said Sanjaya Kanta Sigdel, President of the Nepal Cricket Association, Kaski.
The project area covers around 200 ropanis of land on the banks of the Seti River.
Once completed, the stadium is expected to boost the inflow of tourists.
