‘UML’, ‘Maoists’ strike deal on composition of provincial committees

Leaders of the Nepal Communist Party have struck a deal on the composition of provincial committees. According to the deal, members of then ‘Maoist’ party will get 45 per cent of the seats while those of the then ‘UML’ will get 55 per cent.

Seats on the Province 2 and Karnali committees will, however, be divided based on mutual understanding, sources privy of the negotiations tell Onlinekhabar. A meeting of the party secretariat on Thursday has also assigned General Secretary Bishnu Paudel and party leader Ram Bahadur Thapa to prepare a proposal to assign different positions to members of the central committee. According to a source, party leaders have agreed to allocate half of the seats to the then UML and the other half to the Maoists in Province 2 and Karnali.
