NCP secretariat meeting postponed until September 3

A meeting of the NCP secretariat

Kathmandu, August 28

The ruling Nepal Communist Party has postponed the party’s secretariat meeting until September 3.

Earlier, the meeting was scheduled for Saturday.

Party sources say the meeting would not take place on Saturday as two members of the secretariat–Ishwar Pokharel and Ram Bahadur Thapa–have isolated themselves after one of their contacts was confirmed to be coronavirus positive.

Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel and Home Minister Thapa are members of the government’s Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre. Recently, an office assistant working for the CCMC had tested positive for the virus.

The meeting was scheduled to discuss a report of the party’s task force formed to suggest solutions to the ongoing dispute in the party leadership.
