Constitution amendment bid will move ahead, CPN-Maoist Centre tells UDMF

Kathmandu, February 21

The ruling CPN-Maoist Centre has sought to assure United Democratic Madheshi Front that the Constitution amendment proposal will move ahead. At the same time, the party leading the current government has said it is inappropriate for the UDMF to launch a movement at this juncture.

It should be noted that the government has already declared local level elections and the UDMF has announced a movement against this announcement.

The Centre reiterated that it is committed to conducting elections by taking the Constitution amendment process to a logical conclusion.

Centre leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha said preparations are afoot to convene an all-party meeting aimed at pushing the amendment process ahead. Most probably, the meeting will take place today.
