Kathmandu, June 24
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will inform the Parliament on Friday about the progress that his government has made in distribution of relief to victims of last year’s earthquakes and reconstruction of quake-ravaged infrastructure.
He will detail the progress at the Parliament meeting scheduled to begin at 11 am.
This comes a day after the main opposition Nepali Congress brought the Parliament to a halt pressing for the fulfillment of its five-point charter of demands, including distribution of relief to quake victims.
The Congress has demanded lumpsum payment of Rs 2 lakh to each of the quake-affected households, distribution of concessional loans to the affected as per the decision of the erstwhile Congress government, resettlement of victims of flooding, landslides and fires, distribution of foodstuffs in famine-hit regions like the Karnali.
The main opposition said the House obstruction will continue unless and until the government addresses these concerns satisfactorily. “Let’s see whether the response is satisfactory,” Congress whip Ishwori Neupane told Onlinekhabar, adding: Presentation of statistics is not enough, the government should show what it has done on the field.”
