NADA 2017: Ten new cars to look out for

Nepal’s biggest auto show NADA kicked off in Kathmandu on Tuesday with new and exciting launches of cars in different consumer segments. According to the organisers vehicles from over 41 brands are being showcased during the event. Sixteen of the brands are four-wheelers, 19 two wheelers and six fit into the commercial vehicles category.

More than 50,000 people are expected to visit the show and upt o Rs 3 billion is likely to change hands during the the event.

Here we look at 10 new cars dubbed as the star attractions of the show.

 

Tata Tigor

Following the success of Tata’s Tiago hatchback in Nepal, the Indian carmakers now present the Tigor, which has been dubbed as ‘smart, stylish and sensational’. This sedan is likely to attract consumers from the hatchback and compact SUV segment, says Sipradi Trading, the authorised distributor for Nepal.

Suzuki Ignis

 

 

At this year’s NADA auto show, Maruti-Suzuki presents the all new compact cross-over the Ignis, which has had stellar success in the Indian market. According to the company, its unique looks is its main USP. Although it is a compact car, its bumper has a black cladding, like in SUVs.

 Datsun’s new Redi-GO

Datsun’s Redi-GO is now more powerful than before. The Japanese carmaker has rolled out its 1000cc upgraded version of the car in the Nepali market after the success of 800cc make.

The car has made a reputation for being low on price and high on performance.

Suzuki’s new Dzire

The Dzire has made a name in Nepal as a stylish sedan. The car is expected to take the success achieved by the Swift Dzire to new heights. Although this is a sub-compact sedan, it has everything that a premium sedan has. According to the company, the car is suited for Nepal’s rugged roads. Five people can enjoy the smooth ride of this car.

Volkswagen’s Tiguan

German carmakers Volkswagen are rolling out the new Tiguan in Nepal on the occasion of the NADA auto show. This car is likely to be one of the major attractions of the show. Its powerful engine makes it the ultimate all-terrain car in Nepal.

Tata’s Hexa

Tata’s new SUV Hexa comes to the Nepali market after the NADA auto show. The luxurious SUV is making its debut in Nepal this year. The car is expected to provide good competition to Toyota’s Innova Crysta.

The car is a result of Tata’s decision in recent years to target the passenger car segment.

Skoda’s Superb

One more car that is debuting in Nepal on the occasion of NADA, the Superb is a sedan that has comfort, power and security. The car has paid special attention to giving adequate head and leg room for the passengers.

Nissan’s Micra Active, X-Trail and Sunny Diesel

Face-lift versions of Nissan’s Micra Active and X-Trail are also major attractions of the show. Both the Micra and the X-Trail offer attractive exterior and design. The new sporty bumper give the cars a distinct look.

 

Similarly, the Sunny’s diesel version is coming to Nepal. The car has received stellar reviews in India for its comfort.

 

Although it is a compact sedan, its head and leg rooms lend it a premium sedan feeling. It has become the car of choice for long drives.

The rest of the pack

Some of the cars that were exhibited during last year’s show are also being featured this year. Hyundai’s Grand i10 and Mahindra XUV-500 (automatic) are also some of the crowd-pullers. Renault’s Lodgy Stepway will also be a car to look at.
