201 local units yet to announce annual budget for new fiscal year

Kathmandu, July 27

Of 753 local units across the country, 201 are yet to announce the annual budget for the new fiscal year though 12 days have already passed after the commencement of the year, informs the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

Whereas the law stipulates Asar 10 (June 14) as the deadline for announcing the annual budget, less than 75 per cent of the governments have announced their budget so far, according to the ministry. As of Sunday, 552 local units have already announced their budget, the ministry says. It is around 73 per cent of the total local units.

In Province 5, around 91 per cent of the local units have already introduced the annual plan, but the situation in Province 2 is poor, according to the ministry. In Province 2, only 58 of 136 local units (around 43 per cent) have announced the plan so far. Only five units of this province had met the June 14 deadline.
