Dhangadhi, May 29
Two children have drowned in the Mohana river in the Kailali district of Sudurpaschim.
The deceased have been identified as Anup Chaudhary (10) and Bishnu Gupta (12), residents of Bishalnagar, Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city-3. They had submerged into the water while bathing under the bridge that connects Dhangadhi with Rajghat of the neighbouring Kanchanpur district.
While Chaudhary had fallen into the river first, Gupta had gone there to rescue him but submerged himself.
The bodies have been taken to the Seti Provincial Hospital for postmortem.
Of late, children drowning has become a regular affair in Nepal due to the lack of safety measures, insufficient recognition of the problem, and children’s inability to swim among other reasons.
