Dhangadhi, November 9
Locals in Sadepani, Ghodaghodi Municipality-2 of Kailali, have obstructed the East-West Highway following a fatal road accident.
The protest erupted after an SUV (Lu 2 Cha 2358) carrying vegetables hit and killed 55-year-old Shankar Dagoura of Bardagoriya Rural Municipality-6 and injured three others on Sunday morning.
Demanding action against the driver and appropriate compensation for the victims, locals blocked the highway from early morning, halting traffic movement, according to DSP Tek Bahadur Jora of the Provincial Traffic Police Office.
He said vehicles bound for various destinations have been stranded in Sadepani due to the obstruction. Police have already taken the jeep driver into custody, while the three injured are undergoing treatment at Ghodaghodi Hospital. The condition of one of them is reported to be critical.
