The government has assigned the responsibility of investigating the 100 kg gold smuggling case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB).

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has instructed the CIB to carry out further investigations as it is the specialised body for investigating organised crime.

According to senior government sources, Dahal has issued directives to the Ministry of Home Affairs to carry out an extended investigation through the CIB.

This decision was made following a meeting held on Thursday evening involving key officials such as Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, Attorney General Din Mani Pokharel, Inspector General of Police Basant Bahadur Kunwar, Chief of the CIB Kiran Bajracharya, and Director General of the Revenue Investigation Department Nawa Raj Dhungana.
