Nepal Police have sought the help of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) in the recent gold smuggling case.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, which is investigating the case, has written to Interpol after finding foreign nationals involved in the case.

CIB has written to Interpol in Hong Kong and India seeking help, said IGP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar.

On July 19, 2023, the Department of Revenue Investigation confiscated gold concealed in brake shoes from Tribhuvan International Airport.

Nepali Police have arrested 23 people in the case so far. CIB believe Chinese and Indian nationals are also involved in the case.
