The Central Investigation Bureau has arrested two Chinese nationals in connection to the 100 kg gold smuggling case.

CIB arrested Li Jialin and Liu Fuyan from Tribhuvan International Airport.

The names of the two were on the airport’s blacklist. Immigration officers notified the CIB after the two tried to leave the country. Following that, the two were arrested.

According to CIB officials, the two Chinese nationals have been discovered to have connections with the Belgian citizen Dawa Lama. Lama was arrested on July 30th and was in charge of operating Hotel Vienna in Thamel, where investigating officers conducted a raid leading to his arrest.

According to sources, Lama provided some Chinese nationals with vehicles which were in the hotel’s name. Officials say that others including the two Chinese nationals who were arrested used the vehicle.

“We believe we can find more information on the case from the two,” said a CIB official.
