1 killed as pickup truck falls into Dhanusha stream

A pickup truck falls off the road into a stream in Laxminiya, Dhanusha of southeastern Nepal, on Friday, July 30, 2021.

A pickup truck fell into a stream in the Dhanusha district of southeastern Nepal on Friday morning, killing one on the spot. Other five persons have sustained injuries.

The victim has been identified as Deepak Yadav, a resident of Bhangaha municipality-9 of the neighbouring Mahottari district. He used to work for the driver of the vehicle that fell off the diversion road made to construct a bridge over the stream, at Sapahi, Laxminiya rural municipality-4 of the Dhanusha district along the Janakpurdham-Dhalkebar road.

Police Inspector Tilak Sunar from the Mahendranagar Area Police Post says he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Janakpurdham Provincial Hospital.

Meanwhile, the victim’s wife Reecha, brother Naveen, sister-in-law Ambika, son Gehendra, and another man named Trilok Yadav from Matihani of Mahottari have sustained injuries. They are undergoing treatment at the same health facility.
