The OnePlus Nord CE4 is official. The mid-range option is the successor of the OnePlus Nord CE3 5G. The OnePlus Nord CE3 5G was launched in Nepal eight months after its official launch. The CE4 has some updates and upgrades in design and specs from the Nord CE3 5G. The first Nord CE which launched in 2022 got the market by storm.

The Number series from OnePlus which includes the flagship models like the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R for this year are always popular leading up to the flagship killer name. The Nord series which has gained popularity in recent years is not slowing down either. The Nord CE series is the more affordable version of the Nord version whereas the Nord CE lite options are more affordable.

The Nord CE4 has changed from its predecessor, the OnePlus Nord CE3 in the design, chipset, battery capacity and camera specs. With the CE3 which took some time to be in the Nepali market, the CE4 can be expected to be a little late too.

Design and display

The OnePlus Nord CE4 has an updated design with a pill-shaped camera design. The two-ring camera housing design has been changed to a pill-shaped design. The number of cameras has also changed from three to two with the removal of the macro camera like most other mid-range smartphones. The back is made up of plastic and with two colour options Celadon Marble and Dark Chrome. The Celadon Marble colour has a smooth marble texture while the Dark Chrome colour has a matte smooth texture.

The frame on the OnePlus Nord CE4 is a matte aluminium brushed finish with curved edges. Coming to the front, the display has a premium feel with narrow bezels on the sides and with slightly larger top and chin. The selfie camera is in the centre of the hole-punch cutout. It features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, offering a Full HD+ resolution of 2412×1080 pixels giving a pixel density of 394ppi.

It has a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4 per cent and a 20.1:9 aspect ratio. The display supports up to 120Hz refresh rate and a touch response rate of up to 240Hz. This display is packed with features with a peak brightness of 1100 nits, 10-bit colour depth and support for sRGB, Display P3 and HDR10+.

Performance and storage

The OnePlus Nord CE4 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, built on a 4nm process. Its octa-core CPU configuration, comprising one Cortex-A715 core clocked at 2.63 GHz, four Cortex-A715 cores running at 2.4 GHz, and three Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8 GHz offers a balanced blend of high-speed processing and energy efficiency. It is paired with the Adreno 720 GPU. It runs on Android 14 with ColorOS 14 operating system.

The OnePlus Nord CE4 is available in two RAM options of 8GB and 12GB. The 8GB option is paired with a 128GB storage option whereas the 12GB option is paired with a 256GB storage option.

Camera

The OnePlus Nord CE4’s camera system includes a dual-camera setup on the rear. It now does not feature the macro camera like its predecessor. Its main camera is powered by a Sony LYT600 sensor with a 50 MP resolution and an f/1.8 aperture. It has advanced features like autofocus (CAF+PDAF), optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS) to capture sharp and steady images. It has a focal length equivalent to 26mm and a pixel size of 0.8 μm.

Complementing the main camera is an ultra-wide camera featuring a Sony IMX355 sensor with 8 MP resolution and 112° field of view. Additionally, it has digital zoom capabilities ranging from 0.6x to 20x for photos and 0.6x to 10x for videos. The video recording capabilities of the OnePlus Nord CE4 include 4K at 30fps, 1080P at 60/30fps, and 720P at 60/30fps. It supports super slow-motion at 1080P/120fps and 720P/240fps, time-lapse at 1080P/30fps and dual-view video at 1080P/30fps. For features, the rear camera has features such as Dual-view Video, Night Mode, Portrait Mode, Pano, Slo-mo, Time-lapse, Text-scanner, Hi-res Mode, Retouching, Filters, Google Lens and Pro Mode.

The front camera has a 16 MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. It also has a 1.0 µm pixel size and fixed focus mode. For video, it has support for 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 30fps. It also features like Face Unlock, Screen Flash, Night Mode, Portrait mode, Pano, Time-lapse, Retouching, Filters and Dual-view Video.

Battery and others

The OnePlus Nord CE4 is equipped with a 5500mAh battery for long-lasting usage. It supports fast 100W wired charging to quickly replenish the battery. On the connectivity front, it features Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6 for wireless networking and Bluetooth 5.4 for efficient data transfer and device pairing. It has support for both LTE and 5G networks. The smartphone offers versatile SIM options with a hybrid slot, accommodating either dual Nano-SIM cards or one Nano-SIM and one MicroSD card for expandable storage of up to 1TB.

In terms of ports and buttons, the OnePlus Nord CE4 includes a USB 2.0 Type-C port for charging and data transfer, as well as volume and power keys. Its audio features include dual stereo speakers with noise-cancellation support. Additionally, the OnePlus Nord CE4 is equipped with a range of sensors including an electronic compass, proximity sensor, in-display optical fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, gravity sensor, gyroscope, and pedometer.

It is available in two colour options Celadon Marble and Dark Chrome.

The OnePlus Nord CE4 can be expected in Nepal at Rs 54,000 for the 8/128GB option and Rs 58,000 for the 12/256GB option.
