How Prachanda, Gautam convinced Manandhar to give up Kathmandu-7

Kathmandu, October 10

Nepal Communist Party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and senior leader Bamdev Gautam convinced the party’s MP from Kathmandu 7 to tender his resignation, it has been revealed.

According to party sources, Gautam and Dahal held discussions with MP Rambir Manandhar, considered an ally of Chairman Oli on Monday and drafted his resignation letter. Manandhar, according to sources, agreed to give up his post as he was disenchanted with Oli, who did not offer him a ministerial portfolio despite winning the election twice.

Manandhar, who played an important role in investigating the Nepal Oli Corporation scam, hoped that he would get to lead a parliamentary committee, but Oli did not help him on this as well.

Sources say that when Gautam and Dahal showed Manandhar’s resignation letter to Oli, the Prime Minister was surprised that a party ally had resorted to resignation without even consulting him. Oli camp members have started suspecting that Prachanda is also in on a plan to dislodge Oli and appoint Gautam as the new Prime Minister.
