17 days after abduction, Mahottari man rescued from India

Mahottari, March 22

Police rescued an allegedly abducted man after 17 days of the suspected crime from Bihar of India. Two suspects have been arrested.

Suresh Sah of Gaushala Municipality-8 in Mahottari district was abducted on March 3.

The District Police Office team led by Inspector Dipak Chorbar launched a search for Suresh acting on a complaint lodged by Debsunar Devi, mother of Suresh. Police personnel at Betiya of Bihar assisted the Mahottari police in this rescue operation.

Earlier, Sah’s kidnappers had phoned Amarnath Mahato, brother-in-law of Suresh for a ransom from Mainma forest area between Bagaha and Balmiki town near Betiya in India, asking the family to the area for the victim’s release.

Police, then, tracked the phone details and followed the kidnappers at the area and rescued Suresh, says Deputy Superintendent of Police Khagendra Bahadur Khadka.

Indian police arrested two persons – Suraj Chaudhary and Kashi Sah of Kalaiya Municipality-12 in Bara district – in connection with the kidnap.

They also seized a homemade pistol and ammunition from them.

Investigations are underway, say Indian police.

The rescued man has been handed over to his family, according to Khadka.
