World Cup Qualifiers: Coetzer guides Scotland to victory against Nepal

Scotland beat Nepal in their second match of the World Cup Qualifers being paid in Zimbabwe.

The European side beat Nepal by four wickets, and the loss has dented Nepal’s hopes of qualifying to the Super Six stage of the tournament.

Having won the toss, Nepal elected to bat first and they could score only 149 runs before losing all their wickets. Scotland chased down the target in 41.3 overs losing six wickets in the process. The hero of the chase as Coetzer who scored an unbeaten 88 runs even as Nepali bowlers claimed wickets at regular intervals. Coetzer faced 136 balls and hit seven fours and three sixes.

Nepal’s Basant Regmi and Sompak Kami claimed two wickets each. Lalit Rajbansi and Dipendra Singh Airee claimed a wicket each.

At one point in the name Nepal were 14 for four. But skipper Paras Khadka steadied the ship with his half century. Arif Sheikh made 25 and Rohit Paudel made 19. Similarly Basant Regmi made 24.

Nepal now play Afghanistan and Hong Kong. With the win Scotland are through to the Super Sixes round of the tournament.
