Withdraw proposal on redrawing of provinces, put Constitution Amendment Bill to vote: UML

Kaski, January 24

CPN-UML general secretary Ishwar Pokharel said on Tuesday they will not let the Prachanda government put the Constitution amendment proposal to vote in the Parliament because the proposal is against national interest.

Those, who were saying yesterday they will tear the Constitution and will not recognise, it are toning down their rhetorics, Pokharel said, asking all patriotic Nepali peoples to remain committed to nationalism. Speaking at meet-the-press programme that Press Chautari Nepal’s Kaski chapter had organised, Pokharel demanded that the government put the amendment proposal to vote by withdrawing the proposal on redrawing of provincial boundaries. He also criticised the government for trying to establish Hindi as the official language in the long run at the expense of Nepali.
