Kathmandu, June 12

Strong winds have affected flights in various airports of western Nepal on Wednesday morning and afternoon.

Officials in Nepalgunj Airport in Banke say the winds shut the airport for around 30 minutes. The airport has resumed its operation now, according to Nepalgunj Airport chief Prem Nath Thakur.

Buddha Air had directed its one flight to Bhairahawa due to the obstruction. Later, the aircraft went back to Nepalgunj.

The winds had entered Nepal from India this morning, according to meteorologists.

The winds have not affected the country’s only one international airport in Kathmandu, according to Tribhuvan International Airport general manager Raj Kumar Chhetri.
