We wish for early formation of provincial public service commissions: Mainali

Kathmandu, June 16

Chief of the Public Service Commission, Umesh Prasad Mainali, has said his Commission wishes that provincial governments would form their own public service commissions at the earliest.

Mainali’s comment comes at a time when the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of Parliament has directed the Commission to cancel a vacancy announcement called for around 10,000 local government positions citing they should be appointed through provincial commissions. The Commission, however, has been stating that the notice is lawful; it has not stopped receiving applications.

Speaking at a function organised on the occasion of Commission’s anniversary in Kathmandu today, Mainali also said the Commission was committed to constitutional provisions.

He added that the Commission would not let citizens, youth in particular, lose their trust in the Commission.
