Kathmandu, January 20

The Public Service Commission (PSC) and Tribhuvan, Kathmandu and Purbanchal universities have postponed various examinations scheduled in the next few weeks owing to an unprecedented increase in the number of new Covid-19 cases in the country.

The PSC, the constitutional body responsible to recruit government staff, says it will not conduct any written examination until mid-February.

The commission’s information officer Devi Prasad Subedi says a meeting of the commission officials made the decision today realising many staff of the commission itself have been infected with the virus.

Meanwhile, Tribhuvan University, the biggest academic institution in the country, says all of its examinations scheduled to be held after coming Monday have been postponed until the next notice. The university, however, has decided to move ahead with the plan of conducting entrance exams scheduled for Friday and Saturday for various undergraduate programmes.

In different statements, Kathmandu and Purbanchal universities also announced to have postponed the examinations.
