Kathmandu, June 19
The ruling Nepal Communist Party’s chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the country relies on China for its Covid-19 fight.
Addressing an online event organised by his party and the Communist Party of China to share each other’s experiences on Friday, the former prime minister said, “We have been receiving big support, material and moral, from the government and people of China. China’s support remained extremely important in the early days of Covid-19 infection in Nepal and such support will be critically important for us in the coming days as well. We fully bank on China in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Before this, he highlighted limited capacities of Nepal’s health system, and said, “China has been immensely successful in largely containing COVID-19 with a comparatively low level of loss. Such an exemplary success is a result of the Communist Party’s resolve for a decisive victory against the highly contagious coronavirus.”
