The voters’ list for the upcoming House of Representatives elections, due to be held on April 30 and May 10, will be updated from January 28 to February 3. Those who haven’t registered to vote can do so at the administrative centres of all local levels, informed the Election Commission.

According to the Commission, Nepalis who are over the age of 18, as of December 20, 2020, would be eligible to vote.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari, endorsing the Cabinet’s recommendation for the dissolution of the House of Representatives, on December 20 had announced that the next general elections would be held on April 30 and May 10, 2021.

With that, the voters’ name collection process had been suspended automatically as per the law, after the polls were announced.

However, with many people yet to register for the polls, the commission has given a week to update the voters’ list. The voters have also been given the opportunity to rectify errors on the list and make claims and counterclaims, informed Commission Spokesperson Raj Kumar Shrestha.
