Vehicles without pass barred from plying on voting day

Kathmandu, May 4

The Election Commission has decided to allow vehicles to ply roads on the basis of passes issued by it in provinces 3, 4 and 6 on May 14, when the local bodies in these provinces will hold elections.

A meeting of the Commission held today also made a decision to formulate procedures to issue passes for those requires transport facilities.

Vehicles without the passes will be barred from roads.

Candidates, security personnel, election observers and monitors, officials of diplomatic millions and guests invited by the Commission will get such passes.

Likewise, UN agencies, national media, Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office, offices related to civil aviation and tourism, National Human Rights Commission, National Women’s Commission and Election Commission will also be allowed to operate vehicles on the voting day.

Chief District Officers will issue passes to candidates upon the recommendation from concerned returning officers.
