Kathmandu, January 16

Incumbent prime minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called the Central Working Committee meeting of his party for Thursday.

Deuba’s decision follows an urge by his rival faction in the party led by senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel to dissolve more powerful Central Executive Committee and the Parliamentary Board, which the Paudel side claims to have been formed against the party statute.

Deuba is under fire within the party after it faced a humiliating defeat in provincial and federal parliamentary elections held in November and December last year. Now, Thursday’s meeting will be the first since the polls.

Party’s central office chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudyal says the meeting will take place at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar at 11 am on Thursday.
