The Central Committee meeting of CPN-UML has ended on Sunday after endorsing a decision that the party will strive to lead the federal government after upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for November and December.

The party has also vowed to lead all seven provincial governments after the elections of provincial assemblies which will be held together with the House of Representatives polls.

Meanwhile, the meeting also authorised its Standing Committee to decide its candidates for both the polls. After finalising the criteria for candidates, the party has asked constituency committees to recommend at most three names for the candidature.

The committees will be directed to recommend the single candidate unanimously as far as possible, according to leader Surya Thapa.

Meanwhile, the party has also assigned Chairman KP Sharma Oli to sign the nomination papers of its candidates in federal and provincial polls.

The meeting also endorsed Chairman Oli’s political document.
