Kathmandu, May 5
The main opposition CPN-UML on Friday obstructed the Parliament meeting and barred ruling party lawmakers from beginning discussions on the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.
After the opposition lawmakers chanted slogans and obstructed Nepali Congress lawmaker Min Bahadur Bishwakarma from tabling the motion, Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar adjourned the meeting till Sunday.
Lawmakers of Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre had registered the motion against CJ Karki on Sunday, claiming she interfered into the jurisdiction of the executive.
However, the opposition parties have been arguing that the motion was brought with maleficent intents and demanding that it be withdrawn.
Otherwise, they have been saying the motion should be put to vote at the earliest.
