Kathmandu, November 24

Resident doctors of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital will stop working at the hospital’s Outpatients Department, which is part of their curricular activities, from Friday.

The residents are initiating a movement in support of Dr Govinda KC, who has been on a hunger strike for 12 days, demanding reforms in Nepal’s public health sector.

In a press release, President of National Resident Doctors’ Association Dr Lilan Maharjan and Secretary Dr Sachit Sharma said they will not deliver OPD services from Friday onwards.

Dr KC has been staging the fast for reforms not only in the medical sector but in the entire public health sector of Nepal, they said, objecting to the lack of initiatives aimed at addressing his demands.
