TU Teaching Hospital’s 38 health workers quarantined as child tests coronavirus positive

After a six-year-old girl currently undergoing treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital of Kathmandu tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Thursday morning, the hospital has quarantined 38 health workers including doctors and nurses who came into her contact.

The girl from Kapilvastu of southwestern Nepal was undergoing treatment at the neuro ward of the hospital for the past six days.

All five patients of the ward have been kept in isolation at the Ganesh Man Building of the hospital. Doctors, nurses, and the relatives who accompanied the child on her journey to Kathmandu have also been quarantined.

The hospital’s Covid-19 Management Committee coordinator Dr Santa Kumar Das says the doctors will collect their throat samples for the coronavirus tests.
