Public transport operators have decided to open ticket booking for travel from Kathmandu to other parts of the country for upcoming Dashain festival from September 7.
The transporters made the decision during a meeting called by the Department of Transport Management today.
The greatest festival of Nepalis is just three weeks away. The government makes transports launch the early booking system every year before Dashain to facilitate people returning home from the capital and other major cities for the festival.
Meanwhile, the government and transporters have also agreed that a passenger cannot take loads heavier than 20 kg on a passenger bus. Loads up to 20 kg will be transported free of cost.
Earlier, the transporters had put forward a number of demands including the increase in bus fare to launch the booking. The entrepreneurs, however, backtracked from their demands today and agreed to launch the facility next week.
