Kathmandu, March 6

Traffic police checking has been tightened in the Kathmandu valley in view of Holi, the festival of colours, today.

It is said that strict traffic checking is aimed to prevent possible incidents of drink-driving and violation of traffic rules during the festival.

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has set up additional checkpoints at 68 locations and mobile vans are patrolling in 19 places. As the office said, the checkpoints have been established to make the festival decent and safe by averting any untoward incidents during the celebrations.

According to SP Abhi Narayan Kafle, drink-driving, over speed and showing indecent behaviour in the name of festival celebrations, smearing colour on anyone against their will and throwing water-filled balloons and other violations of traffic rules are not allowed during the festival.
