Tecno Spark 8 has been officially released in Nepal. After a long duration, Tecno has finally released a smartphone here.
Tecno has a minor share in terms of popularity and sales in Nepal. Yet, it has created a portfolio for itself by releasing smartphones of budget-level pricing to premium mid-rangers. The new release Tecno Spark 8 is the successor of last year’s Tecno Spark 7.
Tecno Spark 8 flaunts a new design while most of the specifications are identical to Spark 7. The new launch offers an HD+ screen, a big battery backup, a decent storage option and an AI-enhanced camera.

Design and display
Tecno Spark 8 has a glass front, plastic back and plastic frame build. The phone flaunts a new design compared to its predecessor. A new camera module can be seen on the back of the phone. The squarish camera module covers a considerable area at the top portion. It also incorporates the fingerprint sensor. Similarly, Tecno Spark branding is done just beside the camera module, which looks all right. However, ‘Stop at Nothing’ is written vertically on the back panel’s right side, making the phone look awkward.
The phone weighs 200 grams and is 9.20mm thick. It is available in turquoise cyan, Atlantic blue and Iris purple colour options.
On the front is a 6.52-inch IPS LCD display offering a resolution of 720*1,600 pixels and a 269 PPI density. The waterdrop notch on the top houses a camera sensor. Furthermore, the display supports a 60Hz refresh rate and can achieve a peak brightness of up to 480 nits.
Nothing much is offered in terms of the camera on Tecno Spark 8. The phone features a dual camera setup on the back. The main 16MP camera is accompanied by another undisclosed camera sensor. On the front is an 8MP selfie shooter with a dual-LED flash feature. This can be of great help while taking selfies under low lights.
Some of the camera features on the phone include large aperture, dark shooting, panoramic shooting, smile capture, 1080P time-lapse photography, 120FPS slow motion and portrait camera.
Similarly, both the front and the rear cameras can record video in 1080p resolution at 30 fps.
Performance and storage
Tecno Spark 8 runs on HIOS 7.6, which is based on Android 11 (Go edition). The phone is powered by Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 (12 nm) chipset and the graphics are handled by PowerVR GE8320.
The phone is currently available in two RAM and internal storage options. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and has an internal storage of 64GB. The user can expand the memory by up to 256GB using a microSD card. The phone has a dedicated slot for the external card.
Battery life, connectivity and others
Tecno Spark 8 has a 5,000mAh non-removable li-po battery backup. Tecno has advertised that this power will offer the user:
- 29.44 days of standby time
- 31.37 hours of call
- 19 hours of movies
- 18.50 hours of WhatsApp voice chat
- 126 hours of music
- 13.27 hours of gaming
There is no mention of fast charging support and if that is the case, charging the battery to 100 might take some time.
Tecno Spark 8 supports dual sims with up to 4G network connectivity. The phone also supports Bluetooth pairing, GPS and FM radio. The phone uses micro-USB 2.0 for charging and wired connectivity. For audio, the phone has a speaker and also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The price of Tecno Spark 8 in Nepal is Rs 15,990.
