The Department of Roads has begun a technical study of the road that collapsed at Krishna Bhir, along the Muglin-Kathmandu road section.
The road caved in after the river eroded it at Krishna Bhir, located in Dhading’s Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality. Because of this, Department Director General Dr Bijay Jaishi said technical experts are visiting the site today to study the area. Work to reopen the road will begin based on the recommendations of that team.
The road caved in after the protective wall built along the riverbank was eroded, leaving the Muglin-Kathmandu road completely blocked.
“For one thing, this is already a geologically complex area,” he told Onlinekhabar. “On top of that, since the river continues to erode from below, we’ll make our decision after a risk assessment.”
Following the August 26 flood, the Prithvi Highway had been blocked when the Galchhi area was submerged. Just two days after the blockage at Galchhi was cleared and the highway reopened, the Prithvi Highway has now been blocked again.
